Basic profile

Yannic Han Biao Federer, born in 1986, studied German and Romance languages and literature in Bonn, Florence, and Oxford. He writes novels and short stories, essays and reviews, among others forDeutschlandfunk, WDR and SWR. He is a lecturer at the Institute for German Studies, Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Bonn, where he leads the seminar “Werkstatt Liter-arisches Schreiben.” In January 2022, he was accepted into the Young College of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and in June 2022 he joined the newly founded PEN Berlin. He is a member of PEN Berlin as well as the Junge Kolleg in the NorthRhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He has received numerous scholarships and awards, including the 3sat Prize at the Tage der deutschsprachigen Literatur 2019. His dissertation Masse &Apokalypse was published by transcript Verlag in 2020.
