Introduction

“Research on Southwestern Art Communities,” edited by Lan Qingwei and published by Shanghai Joint Publishing Company, is an artistic historical study that originated from the parallel exhibition “Urban Rivets: Art Communities in the Southwest” held during the “2021 Chengdu Biennale.” This comprehensive study collects 34 critical essays from 26 authors, including Cai Fangfang, Changping Deng, Chen Mo, Dong Yanna, Guan Yuda, Han Jing, He Libin, Lan Qingwei, Li Qi, Li Yifan, Luo Fei, Ni Kun, Ning Jia, Tian Meng, Wang Pengjie, Wang Xiaojian, Wang Yalei, Xia Yan, Yang Shu, Yin Dan, Yu Ke, Zhang Guanghua, Zhang Hui, Zhang Jianjian, Zhao Nengzhi, and Zhu Mo (listed in alphabetical order by surname). These essays comprehensively cover the study of artistic communities in southwestern regions such as Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Chongqing, allowing readers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the history and current status of artistic community development in this region through a single volume. It is a comprehensive research work on the ecological study of southwestern art.

The dialogue session, initiated by the A4 Documentation Center, will be held at 2 pm on October 28th in the multi-function hall on the 4th floor of the A4 Art Museum (Lushan).
