Qi

This exhibition is a solo show of artist Deng Xiao. “Qi” serves as the core concept running through Deng Xiao’s practice. The artist translates unquantifiable flows between breath, air, light, gravity, time, the human body and the universe into tangible sensory experiences. The exhibition focuses on sorting out the evolution of Deng Xiao’s creative thinking, and displays her early conceptual models and unrealised art projects concurrently. It also features multiple participatory works by Deng Xiao, inviting audiences to physically engage with the artworks and perceive the subtle tension generated during interaction.

Marking Deng Xiao’s first solo museum exhibition, the show consists of eleven kinetic installations, large public sculptures and spatial artworks, presenting the intangible “Qi” embodied by tangible objects throughout her creations.
