Introduction

In 2025, the A4 Art Museum OPEN-class will collaborate with the Luxelakes Bird-Friendly Community Initiative, the Luxelakes Park Team, artist YI Liu (founder of Birdsong Radio), and Sardine (head of the Longmen Mountains Migratory Raptor Monitoring and Conservation Project).
Supported by the Green Action Plan, this partnership aims to advance public art practices dedicated to bird-strike prevention, specifically assisting birds in perceiving glass surfaces. We invite the public to take direct action for the avian species inhabiting our city and those currently preparing for their autumn migration.

  • Artist Profile

    LIU Yi

Artist, Public Art Curator, and Founder of Birds Radio. He is the Director of the Public Art and Design Lab at the Shanghai Institute of Design and Innovation (SIDI), a Researcher for the International Public Art Association (IPA), a Guest Professor at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, and the Founder of 61CREATIVE.
LIU Yi explores the themes and relationships between body and space, spirit and matter, the individual and the public, and the sense of cultural locality versus detachment through various creative mediums including painting, sculpture, installation, video, and performance.
His daily digital paintings on mobile devices feature a unique style that blends classical forms with contemporary colours, reflecting his curiosity about life, mythic imagination, personal memories, and lived experiences. At the same time, he is fascinated by the narrative relationship between digital media, physical materials, and creative themes, resulting in a prolific body of two-dimensional and spatial artworks set within the context of daily life and social landscapes.
