Introduction

The Handmade Book Workshop invites participants to experiment with and explore the interactive possibilities of reading through a 3-dimensional lens.

The artist will introduce essential bookbinding tools and teach foundational thread-binding techniques. Participants will also discover various creative playstyles for artistic inner pages, using their own hands to craft a unique, personalized botanical book. We encourage participants to bring their own collected materials, such as botanical specimens, found objects, or photographs. By combining simple structural forms with individual materials and design, everyone will leave the workshop with their very own handmade Book of Plants.

Artist Profile

Cai Binhui (Visual Artist & Designer)

A cross-disciplinary visual artist and designer, and a founding member of the art book promotion group herethere collective. Her work explores the relationship between space and people through creative practices, interactive installations, and experimental bookbinding.

She excels at discovering intriguing visual languages through the use of physical materials, considering the interaction between the participant and the work as an integral part of her artistic language.
