Introduction

We have rediscovered the beauty of everyday objects once again. On this occasion, we are looking at humble items such as the potato—a staple of our kitchens and dining tables—to create patterns and prints. Naturally, we shall not limit ourselves to potatoes; we will also take a fresh look at other fruits and vegetables, utilising their natural forms and unique characteristics to compose intricate motifs.
By stripping away complex techniques and specialised tools, we embrace the spirit of DIY. It is a process of creative subtraction to fuel original expression. Join us for a Sunday morning dedicated to discussing birds, sharing stories of food, and engaging in the joy of tactile creation.

  • Artist Profile

    HU Qindi

Based in Hangzhou, HU Qindi is an artist skilled in documenting everyday landscapes across a variety of media, including paper, wood, copperplates, photographic paper, and thread. Her practice has consistently been intertwined with the cities she inhabits, utilising walking as a narrative thread to record the trees, flora, and fauna encountered in daily life.
Since birdwatching became an integral part of her life, avian themes have permeated her creative practice. Her geographical records have expanded in tandem with the presence of various birds in different locales. Much like an audio recorder, binoculars have become an extension of her sight and hearing, capturing the essence of her encounters with these ‘other’ beings. Through sketching, printmaking, and installations, she gives form to the shapes, silhouettes, sounds, and habitats of the birds she observes.
