Book of Plants: Handmade Book Workshop

Introduction

The Handmade Book Workshop invites participants to experiment with and explore the interactive possibilities of reading through a three-dimensional lens.
The artist will introduce essential bookbinding tools and demonstrate foundational thread-binding techniques. Participants will also discover various creative approaches for artistic interior pages, using their own hands to craft a unique, personalised botanical book. We encourage attendees to bring their own collected materials, such as botanical specimens, found objects, or photographs. By combining simple structural forms with individual materials and design, every participant will conclude the workshop with their very own handmade ‘Book of Plants’.

    CAI Binhui (Visual Artist & Designer)

    CAI Binhui is a cross-disciplinary visual artist, designer, and a founding member of the art book promotion group ‘herethere collective’. Her practice explores the relationship between space and people through creative interventions, interactive installations, and experimental bookbinding.
    She excels at identifying compelling visual languages through the manipulation of physical materials, regarding the interaction between the participant and the work as an integral component of her artistic vernacular.
